Our float's theme: As the master, Vincent Van Gogh, once gazed into
the starry night sky long ago, painting in wonder what he saw outside
his window --- Today we playfully imagine that the heavens likely
gaze back with the answer that Art is TRULY Universal !
WWAF Director Brenda Gottlieb sent the following message to volunteers attending the June
WAL meeting dedicated to thanking all the organizations and volunteers who helped make
this year’s festival a success:

“This year we set new records in attendance, income and in providing an interesting, vital
arts festival for visitors of all ages who attend our event.  The Woodlands Art League
members have very generously donated their time and efforts resulting in nearly 500
volunteer hours for the festival.  We appreciate your enthusiasm and participation in many
aspects of the Festival from judging our Best of Show Artists to the live portraits and still life
demonstrations.  And we always look forward to your award –winning entries in the floating
art parade.  Also, your organization of children’s activities at Artopoly gives so much back to
the thousands of children who attend the event for free.

"We have grown a lot in just four short years, and we hope that The Woodlands Art League
continues to grow with us in the upcoming years as we expand our educational outreach
programs and get more people involved in the arts.  You are a great Charity Partner of the
Festival, and we sincerely appreciate all your wonderful contributions.”

At the meeting, it was announced that the final tally of volunteer hours was
508!  Thanks to
everyone from WAL, other art leagues and organizations and non-affiliated individuals who
donated their time to this event.
