Summer Art Camp

Creating art is one of the most natural and effective way children communicate and even learn!  Our classes provide a wonderful opportunity to learn all about art and to be involved with the creative process in a relaxed and fun environment!  We offer small intimate classes where your child can get the personalized instruction to truly shine as an artist!  And all classes are taught by real artists!

We will be offering children’s painting classes where your young artists will learn the fundamentals of painting plus loads of specialty painting techniques! Come and have fun creating original masterpieces while actively learning about ART!

    Fanta-Sea Art Camp!



    Monday 6 /12/23 - Friday 6/16/23

    Instructor: Teri Valentine

    Ages 7 - 14

    Full Day: 9:00 - 4:00, cost $475.00, payable to WAL

    Half Day: 9:00 - 12:00, or 1:00 - 4:00, cost $265.00, payable to WAL

    Through the subject matter of ocean creatures both real and imagined, your child will spend this week exploring a variety of art modalities including drawing, painting with both watercolor and acrylics and collage. Your child will be introduced to a variety of painting surfaces like paper, canvas and wood. Your child will also be customizing their own sketchbook/journal to take home at the end of camp, because art should last longer than a week!

    Art is messy! Please make sure your kids are dressed in clothes that don't matter. Any paint that ends up on a shirt becomes a part of that shirt.

    If your child will be attending full days, please have them bring a sack lunch and snacks.

    here is a $40.00 per half day materials fee, payable to Teri Valentine, first day of camp by either cash or check

    ……..drawing, painting, and storytelling through cartooning and  making short animations This class is designed to develop the student’s imaginative skills in the art of illustration using one’s personal experiences as a spring board to taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary.  This class will emphasize drawing and painting skills and story telling skills in cartooning.  We will also make short animations.     Let’s get messy….We will explore and be inspired by the art of famous and not so famous artist from around the world. We will draw, paint and sculpt, learn different print making techniques, and make mosaics in this class.  This  is a fun class for the young artist who likes to try all different types of mediums.

    Ages: 7-12. Instructor Susan Manbeian

    Beginning Oil Painting for Teens

    Instructor: Julie Sanderson

    Location: Woodland Art League Studio

    Time: July 3,5,6, and 7

    Cost per four week session:

    · $250 for members (single class $70 if space available)

    · $265 for non-members (single class $75  if space available)

    Class size limited to 12 students  

    Age range: Students 11 - 19

    Overview:

    This class is designed for the beginner oil painting student. No painting experience is required.  Each 3.0 hour class will produce a finished painting.  The fundamentals of painting will be taught such as composition, toning, color mixing, drawing and paint application/mark making.  It will be a fun learning environment designed to quickly teach students how to paint in oils.  

    Supply fee: All supplies will be included, and a $30 fee will be collected the first day.

    About Julie :

    Julie Sanderson is an artist living in Montgomery, Texas.  She works in oils with a modern impressionistic style. She is drawn to rural farm scenes and coastal small towns and loves to paint from life wether it is a landscape or a still life.

    She has received First Place Awards at several plein events such as Paint Texas 2022 in Columbus, Texas and Brushes By the Beach 2021 in Galveston, Texas.  In addition, she has been juried into top plein air events in 2022 such as En Plein Air (San Angelo), Shadows on the Teche (New Iberia), Paint the Town (Marble Falls) and Plein Air Southwest(Galveston).

    Greater Joy Drama Camp ages 5-9

    Energy, Improv, Imagination!


    At Greater Joy Drama Camp, our five principles are public speaking, creativity, movement, self discovery, and ensemble building. This drama camp offers kids the chance to use theater and performance skills for both personal and creative development. Beginning Afternoons, 1-4 pm, July 3rd-7th.     Stephen Sampson is an actor, spoken word poet, and playwright. As a drama education advocate, Stephen works to help youth and adults gain more access to dramatic education and theater and performance training. Hailing from Boston, MA,  Stephen’s performance experience ranges from theatre to film and he has earned an associates degree in theatre arts from Bunker Hill Community College, and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre and Performance, from Emerson College.
