    Adventures in Mixed Media


    This class will concentrate on how to incorporate 2 or more mediums into one work of art. We will focus on a variety of subject matters such as still life, landscape, cityscape, waterscape, animals, nature, and imagery of the mind, abstract-style artwork. All students will get a chance to work in a variety of mediums and learn how they work together in collage, printmaking, drawing/ painting, and a 3-D art project.

    Afternoon 1-4 Ages: 7-12.

    Bio:  Beth is a retired Art teacher of 27 years.  She has many years of experience focused on the 

    elementary and middle school age student. Her projects are engaging and made easy through her 

    knowledge of the processes and practices in creating art.   

    Beth is an artist and enjoys drawing and painting in watercolors, acrylics, oils and many other 

    mediums.

    BEGINNING OIL PAINTING FOR TEENS 

     Sunflower Sunshine 8 x 10 oil   

    Instructor: Julie Sanderson

    Location: Woodland Art League Studio

    Time: June 17th - 21st

    Class size limited to 12 students  

    Age range: Students 11 - 19

    Overview:

    This class is designed for the beginner oil painting student. No painting experience is required.  Each 3.0 hour class will produce a finished painting.  The fundamentals of painting will be taught such as composition, toning, color mixing, drawing and paint application/mark making.  It will be a fun learning environment designed to quickly teach students how to paint in oils.  

    Supply fee:

    All supplies will be included, and a $30 fee will be collected the first day.

    About Julie :

    Julie Sanderson is an artist living in Montgomery, Texas.  She works in oils with a modern impressionistic style. She is drawn to rural farm scenes and coastal small towns and loves to paint from life wether it is a landscape or a still life.

    She has received First Place Awards at several plein events such as Paint Texas 2022 in Columbus, Texas and Brushes By the Beach 2021 in Galveston, Texas.  In addition, she has been juried into top plein air events in 2022 such as En Plein Air (San Angelo), Shadows on the Teche (New Iberia), Paint the Town (Marble Falls) and Plein Air Southwest(Galveston).

    Fairytale Adventures

    Your child’s imagination will be  Ignited with creating fantastical fairy tale creatures.  They may choose to build a recyclable castle, create an enchanted forest,  or sculpt fairy houses for your garden.  Imagine the adventures  they will have while creating a mystical dragon, magical wizard, or friendly elf! They may play the hero or heroine as they wave a magical wand they have created embarking on their own adventure on a magical unicorn or dragon puppet!

    Circus

    Afternoon 1-4

    Everyone Loves the Circus!  We will use acrylic paints, watercolors, markers and pencil. We will even use wire to have fun with our circus theme.  Performers, animals tents and trains will be our subject matter as we spend a week having fun  creating our circus Art work!

    Art Around the World


    Let’s get messy….We will explore and be inspired by the art of famous and not so famous artist from around the world. We will draw, paint and sculpt, learn different print making techniques, and make mosaics in this class.  This  is a fun class for the young artist who likes to try all different types of mediums.

Each day will have one or more science experiments to highlight what we are practicing.

    "Art Around the World"

    Ages: 7-12 years old.

     Week:  July 22 – 26th

    Time:  9:00 – 12:00 noon

    Instructor: Beth Weaver

    The children will discover a variety of indigenous art styles and forms of art from around the world.  They will get to learn about the early American folk arts and crafts, Chinese brush painting to Australian Aboriginal art forms. They will use the art elements of line, shape, color, texture, value, form and space to create works of art. They will learn about composition through fun explorations of concepts.

    The subject matter will vary by each project from depictions of animals and nature to folk art designs of the early American settlers. The children will get to work with a variety of materials that will enhance each project.


    A Supply fee of $25.00 is due on the first day of camp for art materials.

    All-Day Summer Art Camp

    The children will get to explore and discover about art isms and movements of famous artists and travel the world exploring art forms and styles from around the world.

    "Famous Artists Movements and Isms"

    Ages: 7-12 years old.

    Week:  July 22 – 26th

    Time:  1:00 – 4:00pm

    Instructor: Beth Weaver

    The children will discover the art forms of famous artists from Monet’s Impressionism, Van Gogh’s Post-Impressionism, Picasso’s Cubism, Kandinsky’s Expressionism, to O’Keefe’s American Modernism.  They will get to learn about the famous artists styles from the past centuries and create artworks using some of the techniques that the artists used to create the particular styles of art.  They will use the art elements of line, shape, color, texture, value, form and space to create works of art. They will learn about composition through fun explorations of concepts.

    The subject matter will vary by each project from depictions of animals and nature, self portraiture, to still life renderings and modern abstractions. The children will get to work with a variety of art materials that will enhance each project. 


    Supplies fee: $25.00 due on first day of camp
